A federal judge has blocked Nebraska from putting a 13-year-old boy who moved here from Minnesota on its public list of sex offenders. Senior U.S. District Judge Richard G. Kopf said if the boy had done in Nebraska exactly what he did in Minnesota he would not have been required to register as a sex offender “and he would not be stigmatized as such.”
“It therefore makes no sense to believe that the Nebraska statutes were intended to be more punitive to juveniles adjudicated out of state as compared to juveniles adjudicated in Nebraska,” the judge wrote in a 20-page order. Full Article
As I pointed out in another thread. If everything we did as children all of the way through high school were known, every male ages 10 through 17 and half of the females, would be on the registry.
It’s really sad how badly the paranoid public and lawmakers have screwed up for so long.
Yes, Frank, I agree with you. The awful news is that as part of the “Containment Model” now they hook you to a polygraph and make you confess all that stuff and, although they are not supposed to be able to charge you based on it, they do hold it against you as regards your “therapy” and supervision (everything you say is shared with probation or parole).
Yep that was what o ws saying just about everyone i knew growing up would have all been sex offenders by the time they were in middle school,if not before thst.
